A visual design refresh for the Google Web Store site.

Project Overview

Google's online store for web applications for Google Chrome or Google Apps. The software allows users to install web applications for the Google Chrome browser.

The main goal was to bring the visual design up to date with Google's latest Material Design Standards (GM2) for Chrome's 10th birthday.

We had the challenge of building a website that had consistency with the Chrome Browser. Chrome Web Store needed to “feel” like it was a part of the core browser, looks and feels simplified and streamlined, and addresses users’ feedback.
Client
Google - Chrome.
Agency
Huge Inc.
My Role
Senior Visual Designer.
Creative Team
Laura Polkus - Art Director.
Neil Shankar - Production Designer.
The first step of the process was to conduct a visual audit of the site to understand what was working and what wasn't.

One of the client's goals was for Chrome Web Store to "feel" like it was a part of the core browser.

Besides the visual update, we had the opportunity to improve the product page's user experience by redesigning it completely. We did a co-creation with the client and the whole team to whit-out changing the structure completely, finding a way to improve the experience.
